Terveyssovellus

Pihlajalinna Terveyssovellus is a mobile app designed for customers to make doctor’s appointments and check laboratory results. With the app, users can access their insurance healthcare plans, chat with healthcare professionals, and schedule an appointment at a healthcare center.

Challenge statement

The goal is to understand the users of digital healthcare products and communicate clearly within a single mobile app, avoiding unnecessary phone calls and waiting in queues.

Implementing new design system components into the app was a crucial stage to unify the company’s multiple digital products. To maintain functional consistency across all imaginable mobile devices on which the app may be used, the design had to be both responsive and visually unambiguous.

My role

As the sole designer on this product, my responsibilities included updating outdated designs to match the company’s design system and conceptualizing new features. When I joined the team, Terveyssovellus was outdated both functionally and in design, which made my task to bring new life to the app.

The solution

The app was outdated, making it necessary to incorporate the newly created design system into the app, and working with multiple developers and exchanging thoughts and ideas. Iterative design progress allowed us to review all updates carefully and make final fixes before going live. After implementing the new design system in the app and introducing a new, more intuitive design, navigation is easier, and the app is more enjoyable to use.

Where I got to

Following my departure as the sole designer, the app continues to undergo design changes and development. Terveyssovellus is likely to be replaced with an all-new app in the near future.
